The Main Changes in Upcoming Edition of FSSC 22000 Standard Version 5
...

The FSSC 22000 Standard is the world leading, independent certification standard for food safety management systems throughout the entire supply chain. The FSSC 22000 Standard is based on the requirements of the ISO 22000 standard, depending on the nature of activity, and the FSSC guidelines. The standard is approved by the GFSI and is considered to be equal to the standards of BRC or IFS.

In May 2019, a new edition of FSSC 22000 Version 5 will be published. One big reason for the revision is the publication of the standard ISO 22000:2018, which is used as a basis for the GFSI benchmarked certification scheme.

Most Probable Changes in FSSC 22000 Version 5

The new version will adopt High-Level Structure (HLS), the common structure for all new management system standards. The main reasons for the changes and issue of the Version 5 of FSSC 22000 Certification are:

  • Publication of the new edition of ISO 22000 in 2018
  • Incorporation of the list of decisions of the FSSC 22000 Board of Stakeholders into the standard requirements
  • Compliance with GFSI requirements
  • Continual improvement process
